Welcome to the Southwestern Donkey and Mule Society (SDMS)!

Whether your interest is showing, breeding or recreation, SDMS offers a wealth of opportunities and resources to expand your knowledge and involvement with mules and donkeys of all sizes. Your membership in SDMS can be exciting and rewarding.

SDMS was formed in 1973 for the purpose of promoting family activities and furthering the development of donkeys and mules in the southwestern United States. We are a not-for-profit organization that strives to act in the best interests of all donkey and mule lovers. SDMS is operated on a volunteer basis by its dedicated members.

The business affairs of SDMS are managed by an elected Board of Directors. Regular board meetings are held several times each year and everyone is invited to attend. A general member meeting is also scheduled in December to coincide with the annual awards banquet.

Our Show Committee plans and coordinates several shows throughout the year where both adult and youth members may participate in a fun family environment. All SDMS shows are governed by the current Texas Rule Book. Awards are given and points are accumulated at each sanctioned show. The annual awards banquet highlights the year, and is an event where everyone comes together to recognize involvement and high point winners.

On behalf of SDMS, I extend to you an open invitation to express your opinions, and encourage you to openly participate in our great organization.
